Program Description:
File-Safe is a self-activating backup/restore utility.
Registration fee is $50.
Features:
File-Safe uses pre-selected directories to be backed up and
frequencies for each. These directories can be selected from a
tree structure display of all the disk's directories. When the
backup program is included in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, the system
automatically scans the directory schedules and presents only
those items needing backup. If no backups are needed, the
program returns directly to DOS. Directories needing backup
analysis are presented in a list, and, as each directory is
examined, all files meeting the established criteria, are
displayed on the screen. As the backup process proceeds, you are
prompted for the appropriate backup disk; if more than one disk
will be needed, you are told in advance how many. Extraneous
files, such as, perhaps, files ending in .BAK, can also be
deleted. At any time, the program can be forced to display, for
backup action, all directories in its master configuration file.
Each time a file is backed up, information about that backup is
saved in a catalog containing date and time of the backup, the
drive and path where the original file resides, and the name of
the disk containing the backed up file. The main system program
provides the same backup facility and review of the cataolog with
the option to restore any file to any location. The catalog can
be printed in any of three different report formats or the
report(s) can be sent to a file for subsequent review and/or
printing. Colors can be customized to individual preference and
a variety of default parameters can be set for the particular
computer configuration on which File-Safe is installed.
Registered users receive a printed user manual and the latest
version of the programs plus telephone support for problems.
